Participants' feedback
“ I decided to try meditation as I was completely stressed out. My life as a single parent is extremely demanding and I felt I couldn't carry on as things were.
The classes are relaxed and friendly, without any pressure to meditate in a certain way. I have met some wonderful people, including our tutor Vicki, who really is an inspiration.
The sessions start out as my 'my time' amidst my manic lifestyle. It's a different story now, as what I'm learning in class has begun to touch other areas of my life. I've started a journey – soon I will not have those panicky, stressed feelings I used to have. Since starting meditation I have given up smoking and 'come off' the anti-depressants I have been taking for 15 years.
If anything feels 'wrong' in your life and your problems seem insurmountable – come and try meditation. There will be no one to take your problems away, but you will be given the time, space and encouragement to handle them yourself.”
“I came to the course hoping to improve my reactions to everyday situations. Anger and irritation in another would trigger the same emotions in me in an instant reaction. I wished to modify my response.
The classes are calm and friendly. The teacher's voice in meditation is calming but not soporific. It is easy to reach a relaxed state in the company of other calm people. I am beginning to feel calmer and will try to fit meditation into my life. It's not easy to make room for it. I would recommend the classes for anyone who wants a 'mental retreat', a place of calmness to exist within, however busy their lives may be.”
“ Serene and friendly atmosphere in the classes. I have learnt about just ‘being in the moment’ and how I can fit this into my daily living to promote well-being. Also learning to accept feelings and emotions, however painful, and realizing that they are part of all of us, but not letting them overwhelm. An hour out of the week to focus on me has been very refreshing!”
